Alketo translates text, speech and photographs. This page explains, in plain language, what happens to what you type, say and photograph.
Text you want translated. It goes to our server, on to the translation provider, and back to you — then it is discarded. Our logs record only the length of the text, the languages and how long it took. Never the text itself.
Sound from the microphone. Speech is normally recognised on your phone and the recording never leaves it. For languages your phone cannot recognise, the app may send the recording to our server, which passes it to a speech-recognition service. The recording is not stored and is excluded from our logs.
Text read from photographs. The photograph itself never leaves your phone; the text is read on the device. Only the recognised text is sent onward, exactly like text you typed.
A device number. The first time the app runs, it makes up a random number for itself. It is not taken from your phone, your SIM card or you, and it cannot identify you. We hold it on the server to count your free monthly usage and to stop strangers spending our credit. It is the only thing we keep about you — and we keep it only in the server's memory, so it is lost whenever the server restarts and reset at the start of every month.
Group rooms. Messages pass through our server so they can be translated and handed to the other people in the room. They live in memory only for as long as that takes and are never written to disk. We count how many messages and in which languages — never what was said.
Deleting the app deletes all of it. We have no copy to delete.
We do not build the translation ourselves. To make it, your text is passed to a provider:

Each can be refused, and refusing it only turns off that one feature.
Under the GDPR you have the right to see, correct, export and erase personal data held about you. In practice there is almost nothing to act on: we hold no name, no e-mail and no account, and the one thing we do hold — the random device number — is in memory only and disappears by itself. Everything else is on your phone, where deleting the app erases it.
If you want to ask us anything about this, write to us at the address below. Please note that because we cannot connect you to a device number, we cannot look you up — and we consider that a feature, not a shortcoming.
Alketo is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything about them. There is nothing to collect: there is no account and no profile.
If what the app does changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. We will not quietly widen what we do and leave the old text standing.

Alketo prekladá text, reč a fotografie. Táto stránka zrozumiteľne hovorí, čo sa deje s tým, čo napíšete, poviete a odfotíte.
Text, ktorý chcete preložiť. Ide na náš server, odtiaľ k poskytovateľovi prekladu a späť k vám — a potom sa zahodí. Do našich záznamov ide len dĺžka textu, jazyky a čas, ktorý to trvalo. Nikdy samotný text.
Zvuk z mikrofónu. Reč sa bežne rozpoznáva priamo v telefóne a nahrávka ho neopustí. Pri jazykoch, ktoré telefón nezvláda, môže appka nahrávku poslať na náš server a ten ju odovzdá službe na rozpoznávanie reči. Nahrávka sa neukladá a do záznamov sa nezapisuje.
Text prečítaný z fotky. Samotná fotka nikdy neopustí telefón; text sa z nej číta v ňom. Ďalej ide iba prečítaný text — presne ako keby ste ho napísali.
Číslo zariadenia. Pri prvom spustení si appka vymyslí náhodné číslo. Nie je odvodené od telefónu, SIM karty ani od vás a nedá sa ním nikoho určiť. Držíme ho na serveri, aby sme vedeli spočítať vaše bezplatné mesačné využitie a aby cudzí ľudia neminuli náš kredit. Je to jediné, čo si o vás necháme — a máme ho len v pamäti servera, takže zaniká pri každom jeho reštarte a na začiatku mesiaca sa aj tak nuluje.
Skupinové miestnosti. Správy prechádzajú cez náš server, aby sa dali preložiť a doručiť ostatným v miestnosti. Žijú v pamäti len po dobu doručenia a nikdy sa nezapisujú na disk. Počítame, koľko správ a v akých jazykoch — nikdy nie čo bolo povedané.
Zmazaním appky sa zmaže všetko. My nemáme kópiu, ktorú by sme mohli zmazať.
Preklad nerobíme sami. Aby vznikol, text sa odovzdá poskytovateľovi:

Každé sa dá odmietnuť a odmietnutím sa vypne len tá jedna vec.
Podľa GDPR máte právo vidieť, opraviť, preniesť a vymazať osobné údaje, ktoré o vás niekto má. V praxi tu niet na čom to uplatniť: nemáme meno, e-mail ani účet a jediné, čo držíme — náhodné číslo zariadenia — je len v pamäti a zaniká samo. Všetko ostatné je vo vašom telefóne a zmaže sa odinštalovaním.
Ak sa chcete na čokoľvek spýtať, napíšte nám na adresu nižšie. Upozorňujeme, že vás k číslu zariadenia nevieme priradiť, takže vás nevieme vyhľadať — a považujeme to za prednosť, nie za nedostatok.
Alketo nie je určená deťom a vedome o nich nič nezbierame. Ani niet čo: neexistuje účet ani profil.
Ak sa zmení to, čo appka robí, zmení sa aj táto stránka a dátum hore. Nebudeme potichu rozširovať, čo robíme, a nechávať tu starý text.
