What Alketo does

Alketo is a translator and interpreter for iPhone, iPad and Android. It handles the four ways people actually need to be understood: typing, speaking, pointing a camera, and sitting in a group where nobody shares a language.

Type it

Write a sentence and read it back translated. Regional dialects are there for the languages that have them, so you can ask for Bavarian rather than standard German. Sentences you need often can be saved and kept on the phone.

Say it

Speak and let the app translate and read the result aloud. It works turn by turn, or continuously — listening and speaking while the other person is still talking.

Point the camera

Photograph a sign, a menu or a page. Text is recognised on the phone itself, and the translation is drawn over the picture where it fits.

A whole page at once

A letter or a form can be translated as one document rather than in fragments, with numbers, dates and amounts carried across as written.

A room for several people

Everyone joins with a six-digit code and reads the conversation in their own language. One person speaks; everyone else sees it in theirs.

Subtitles

Large text meant to be read by the person opposite you — useful in noise, and for someone hard of hearing.

A second pass, when it matters

Double-Check sends a finished translation back through the model and reports what looks risky, quoting the part worth a second look. It does not rewrite the translation; it tells you where to look.

What Alketo does not do

It does not need an account, an email address or a name. It shows no ads and tracks nothing. Your history and your glossary stay on the phone, and what you translate is never written into our logs.
